| Vicki from Quitman, TX USA says: | See others from this town | 12-30-2010 | | | | Coming from a single parent household in the 50s and 60s, and having 5 other siblings, money wasn't something we had much of. If it weren't for the generosity of the local churches and fire station, there would have been many Christmases we would have done without. My favorite memories are recalling the silver Christmas tree we got while I was a young girl and the amazement I felt seeing the light wheel on the floor change the colors of that old silver tree from red, to green, to blue. Our mother always made sure we had a stocking, which generally contained nuts and fruit - nothing frivolous. How I long for those days now and wish my mother was still here to enjoy the simplicity of those days with us again. |
