I always belived in Santa Clause and I was very certain that I would see him before I died, I just did not realize how long it would take. On Dec 24th, 1997 in Sarajeavo, Bosnia the sun was setting as I entered the US compound and passed the armed Turkish gaurds, wishing them a merry Christmas as I passed. I drew my weapon and cleared the 9mm to insure there were no rounds in the gun, and the chamber was clear.
This had been a long and hard Christmas eve ,as I had smoked 7 large turkeys for the NATO enlisted soldiers to enjoy and remind them of their homes and families around the world. A light snow had begin to fall as I entered my quarters, and should continue all night, so much for not having a white Christmas.
Ever since I was a young boy, Christmas eve had always been my favorite time of the year. I must have fallen asleep on my deck, I was covered with new snow, but not cold, A light was on in my Hummer below me, Santa was sitting behind the wheel, and there were presents in the back, I ran to the Hummer and everything was gone, only the memories of the past would remain.with me forever young. |

| I used to think Madison, WI was a small town - it wasn't really, but when the students at UW left for Christmas vacation, it turned into one. Then it was sliding down Cowboy Hill on cardboard, skating on Lake Monona, and getting the best presentsfrom my uncle in Green Bay. Now, La Veta is small all ... MORE |

The mom had a severe work related head injury, the dad had cancer and the blended family had 6 kids ranging in age from 4 to 11! They were living in a tiny, drafty single wide trailer with the m... | I grew up in small town in Texas - even smaller than La Veta! Christmas was the highlight of the year. The town square was decorated and all of the children in town would gather for gifts from Santa - usually a stocking full of candy and fruit. After college I moved to Dallas, Tx with my husband. We... MORE |

| As a child of the 60's, we too had one of those of hideous aluminum Christmas Trees. Being a child though, I never thought it hideous, I thought it gorgeous; especially, when the rotating 4-color light wheel would project it's majesty on the tree. I would go into the "formal" living room where our t... MORE |

| In 2007 during the Christmas concerts at our gallery, the town's train, The North Pole Express, came rolling into town. The depot is just across from the gallery and the windows looked out provide a view of the town park and depot. In the twilight you could see the snow falling. The train's whistle ... MORE |
