| Bonnie from Sisters, OR USA says: | See others from this town | 12-31-2010 | | | Every Christmas in the small Oregon western town of Sisters is memorable because the town is alight with tiny lights and our annual Christmas parade is always packed with entries and enjoyed by locals as well as out of towners.
I have been in the Christmas parade riding horses with my riding group for the past 30 years. We are the "Saddlebags" and have dressed up as elves for a number of years and also gone as wise men and also in our white fuzzy chaps and western wear. The parade has featured a team of Welsh corgies pulling a sleigh with wheels, big draft horses pulling a wagon with Santa Claus and has even featured a bunch of decorated llamas and a camel from a local farm. At the end of the parade is a Christmas tree lighting, hot cider, cookies and a visit with Santa for the kids and all the shops are open for Christmas shopping.
Sisters is also famous for its annual outdoor quilt show and the Stitching Post - as well as "The Biggest Little Show in the World" - the Sisters Rodeo which just celebrated its 70th year producing top-notch rodeo excitement with the snow capped mountains and blue sky as a backdrop. |
